As with Stage 4, you need to be a real fan of canals to get excited with this leg. Still, its better than road walking.
TAme valley canal
The Tame Valley canal is a newbie. It was built in 1844 and takes its name from the nearby River. 8.5 miles long, where it joins the Walsall canal at one end and main Union canal at the other. It promises twin tow paths, so you can take your pick on which side to walk, but towards the end of the route, make sure you are on the right hand side to make good your exit.
The canal walking is much nicer than previous canal sections, we are elevated, cross many aqueducts (including the M6) and is surprisingly leafy. Some nice views over Birmingham as we get close to Hamstead.
