birmingham airport
There has been an airport here since the 1920s. The current passenger airport was opened in 1984. It is the seventh busiest airport in the UK.
Elmdon hall and park
The site of a grand stately home that was completed in 1795 and knocked down in 1956. It is still marked on the OS map. The grounds were bought by the Council in the 40s and turned into a Country Park. I liked the church and beacon.
Land rover
The factory has its origins in the 2nd World War. The land was acquired by the British government in 1936, in readiness for a potential war. The land was occupied by two farms. On the outbreak of war, it produced engines. At the end of the war, production was changed to car manufacture. By the late seventies, only Land Rover vehicles were being produced, which are now going through something of a major revival.
grand union canal
137 Miles of canal running from Paddington Basin in London to Birmingham. It is the amalgamation of several different canals and can into being very late for a canal in the 1920s.
solihull
The town started to take shape in the 1200s. There are still was wonderful half timbered buildings in the High Street, sitting next to the modern Touchwood shopping complex. In 2013, it won the award of best place to live in the UK.
